Meet on the lawn outside the library with your lunch. We'll talk about books and play games. Cookies and lemonade provided. This week we're going to look at books about pirates--male and female.
Stop by the library for some delicious baked goods! The Wright Library Teen Advisory Board is sponsoring a bake sale to raise money for a summer service project, Botswana Book Project. The money will be used to ship donated books to the US based organization, and any additional money will be donated to fund the shipment of the books to Botswana. Use our plastic construction bricks (courtesy of the Boonshoft Museum) to create something to do with water - a boat, a crab, a surfer? Prizes will be awarded for the best use of the "Make a Splash" theme.

The Lincoln Society of Dayton will present "On the Campaign Trail with Lincoln", marking the 150th anniversary of his nomination, campaign and election as the 16th President of the United States, on Wednesday July 14, 2010, at 6:30-7:30 p.m. Members of the Society will share the impact of Lincoln's visit to Dayton in the fall of 1859 and the pivotal role which Ohio played in making the election possible the following year. Appropriate for students of all ages!
A Wildlife Ambassador from Brukner's Nature Center will lead this informative program about critters that may be found near water like snakes, box turtles, and salamanders.

Celebrate the end of Summer Reading Club with an indoor beach bash--with pirate fun, too! Make your own fruit drink, play beach ball games and pirate games, and make barefoot sandals or a pirate flag. Prizes, too!
The Friends of Wright Library are having a special program to encourage new members to join and to provide a fun opportunity for current members to renew for the 2010-2011 year. Book reviewer extraordinaire Vick Mickunas will be the guest speaker on Wednesday, August 4 at 7 p. m. in the library meeting room. His weekly "Book Nook" column has appeared in the Dayton Daily News since mid-2004. He was the host of radio station WYSO’s long-running "Book Nook" program and now has a biweekly spot on “WYSO Weekend” on Sunday morning.
Join us for our SRC Wrap-Up Party Thursday, August 5 2:00-3:00 p.m. Stations will be set-up for water fun including a water ballon toss, a bubble station, a casting activity, ping pong fish toss, pirate cornhole, life preserver toss, and more. AND...there will be lots of giveaways and games including a raffle for the USS Orville Submarine and "Blueberry" the Betta fish. Don't miss the fun. We will meet outside on the north lawn. In the event of rain, we will gather in the Meeting Room. All ages are welcome to attend.
