Celebrate the end of Summer Reading Club with an indoor beach bash--with pirate fun, too! Make your own fruit drink, play beach ball games and pirate games, and make barefoot sandals or a pirate flag. Prizes, too!
The Friends of Wright Library are having a special program to encourage new members to join and to provide a fun opportunity for current members to renew for the 2010-2011 year. Book reviewer extraordinaire Vick Mickunas will be the guest speaker on Wednesday, August 4 at 7 p. m. in the library meeting room. His weekly "Book Nook" column has appeared in the Dayton Daily News since mid-2004. He was the host of radio station WYSO’s long-running "Book Nook" program and now has a biweekly spot on “WYSO Weekend” on Sunday morning.
Join us for our SRC Wrap-Up Party Thursday, August 5 2:00-3:00 p.m. Stations will be set-up for water fun including a water ballon toss, a bubble station, a casting activity, ping pong fish toss, pirate cornhole, life preserver toss, and more. AND...there will be lots of giveaways and games including a raffle for the USS Orville Submarine and "Blueberry" the Betta fish. Don't miss the fun. We will meet outside on the north lawn. In the event of rain, we will gather in the Meeting Room. All ages are welcome to attend.

Bill Schuerman and Special Guests from the Back Porch Jam will present an outdoor concert for all ages at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11 on the north lawn of the Wright Library. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating and a picnic supper if you wish. Rain site is the Library meeting room. The free concert is sponsored by the Wright Memorial Public Library Foundation.

Wright Memorial Public Library’s annual book sale starts Tuesday, August 24 with a special preview night from 4 to 8 open only to members of the Friends of Wright Library. If you are not a member, you can sign up anytime the library is open. Individual membership is $10, and Family membership is $12, with discounted memberships for Seniors ($5) and Students ($1). Preview night prices will be two dollars each for hardback books and one dollar each for all other items. The sale will take place in the Library Meeting Room.
Hardback books will be one dollar each. All other items will be fifty cents each.
Many of the books are donated, while some are old library copies that are no longer needed. There are thousands of books on all kinds of subjects for both adults and children. New books will be put out every day. Proceeds benefit the library.
