What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan is a method of obtaining materials that are not owned by Wright Memorial Public Library.

Who can use Interlibrary Loan?

Anyone who has an active Wright Library card can use this service.

How do I use Interlibrary Loan?

When you cannot locate an item in the library catalog, you can fill out an interlibrary loan request form or you can come to the library and fill one out. The interlibrary loan staff takes the request and tries to locate the item and get it to the library as quickly as possible.

What items can I request?

You can request books, photocopies from journals or newspapers and/or audiovisual items.

How much does it cost?

This is a free service to the library’s patrons. In rare cases, there may be a charge from the lending library. If this happens, the interlibrary loan staff will contact you before requesting the item.

How long does it take?

Materials usually arrive in two to three weeks. It could be longer or shorter, depending on the lending library’s location and workflow.

Where do I pick up my items?

Pick up your items at Wright Library's checkout desk.

How long can I keep the item?

All books, music cds and books on tape are checked out for twenty one days. Videos, DVDs and CD- ROMs are checked out for one week.

What happens if Interlibrary Loan materials are overdue?

If materials are returned late, you will be responsible for the overdue fines charged to your account. You are also responsible for any lost or damaged items checked out on your card. The lending library will bill Wright Library for the cost of the item and the charge will be put on your account.
