Illustrating American Classics Contest

For teens grades 7-12 | Contest runs March 1 – April 30, 2026 | Details on the Wright Library Calendar

Excerpts in different art styles from three different "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" book covers.

L. Frank Baum’s American classic, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, is a look at turn-of-the-century America through a fairy tale lens. Now teens (grades 7-12) get the opportunity to put a creative spin on the story.

Pick one of the provided scene prompts to illustrate in your own style and submit your artwork before April 30 for your chance to see your artwork on display and win a Best in Show prize.

To get started, stop by the Youth Services desk to pick up your entry form and list of scene prompts.

Illustrations can be completed in any medium except AI-generated artwork and must be at least 8.5”x11” in size.

Return artwork to the Youth Services desk by April 30, 2026.

Selected entries will be included in a display with prizes awarded to the top three selections.
