FAQS

How Do I Sign Up?

Summer Reading Club is open to everybody, from birth to teens entering their senior year of high school. Register for Summer Reading Club by filling out the online registration form  or asking a Youth Services staff member at the Library. Registration opens and reading begins on Saturday, May 18! Prizes and programs begin on Saturday, June 1!

What Counts as Reading?
Audiobooks, magazines, print books, e-books, board books, chapter books, picture books, fiction, and nonfiction all count the same, so read what interests you and fill in your reading log! Older siblings reading to younger siblings counts for both readers. Listening to a story read by a parent or caregiver counts, too! If you are uncertain about the exact amount of time you read, make your best guess and round up.  Some readers may prefer to fill out half a box at a time.

WHAT CAN I WIN?
Registration Prize: Children and teens who register by 5 p.m on Sun., June 2nd will be entered into a drawing for a pair of tickets for Kings Island (one pair for teens and one pair for children).
Weekly Coupons:  For every week you do at least half an hour of reading, you earn a coupon to an area business! You can claim your coupon each week, or collect the coupons in batches if you visit the library less frequently. Coupons may be collected retroactively but not in advance.  Coupons are available while supplies last; substitutions may be made.
Reading Prizes: After completing a total of 12 hours of reading, visit the library to make your very own custom button (children) or choose a Redbubble sticker (teens).  Finally, when you’ve completed the full 24 hours of reading, you earn a brand new book for you to keep, a sticker with a Universe of Stories logo, and a reading rocket to hang in the library!  Some super readers like to keep reading past 24 hours.  That’s great!  Every time you read an additional 24 hours, you earn another book for yourself and flames to add to your rocket!  Some readers earn 5, 7, even 10 books for themselves over the course of summer!
Deadline for prize pickup: All Summer Reading Club prizes must be picked up by 5pm on Saturday, August 10.  Prizes will be distributed while supplies last.
