ACORN (Assisting and Contributing to Oakwood Resident Needs) is a program developed by the Oakwood Public Safety Department to assist senior and at-risk residents in Oakwood.
The goal of the program is to provide peace of mind through proactive community outreach, implement safety plans, and advocate for the well-being of Oakwood's senior population and at-risk residents.

A Customized Plan for Each Resident
- ACORN can be catered to the needs of each individual enrolled in the program. An Oakwood Public Safety Officer will visit your residence with an initiation packet and personalized plan for your independence.
- Custom forms provide information for Oakwood officers in case of an emergency at your residence.
- Secure an extra key and alarm code with the Oakwood Public Safety Department to ensure officers are able to access your residence in an emergency.
- Coordinate with Wright Memorial Public Library for the delivery of reading materials, audiobooks, and movies.
- ACORN is intended to enrich the lives of Oakwood's senior and at-risk population by providing comfort and peace of mind for continued independence in the home.
