Little Free Library

Two Little Free Libraries in Oakwood, Ohio, supported by the Wright Memorial Public Library.

Little Free Library: Real impact, real change.

Wright Library supports the global Little Free Library program by hosting two little libraries within Oakwood.

  • Children with access to Little Free Libraries read more often and keep more books at home.
  • Ninety-two percent of children reported having more access to books because of Little Free Library book-sharing boxes.
  • Children who visit a Little Free Library read an average of 1.1 additional days per week.
  • Eighty-eight percent of children said they now keep more books at home, helping them build personal libraries.

Statistics based on a multi-site observational study, led by Pier Partners consultancy group in collaboration with The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools.

If you have books to share, or are in search of something new, stop by one of Wright Library's Little Free Libraries.

Little Free Library in Katharine Wright Park

In 2026, Wright Memorial Public Library was selected as the home of a unique, custom-branded Little Free Library inspired by the newly released children's book We are the Wright Brothers, the 40th title in the award-winning Ordinary People Change the World series by bestselling author Brad Meltzer and acclaimed illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos.

Created as part of a nationwide literacy initiative championed by Meltzer and Eliopoulos, at least 25 Little Free Libraries were placed across the United States, with one especially meaningful installation at Wright Library. Wright Library was selected as the recipient of this special library because of the enduring connection between the Wright brothers, their family, and the Oakwood-Dayton community.

Little Free Library in Orchardly Park

This Little Free Library, on the grounds of Orchardly Park near the Pickleball Court, is filled with new books upon each visit unless the community has filled it first! Book titles cover many genres and include both adult and youth selections.

This Little Free Library was repainted in 2026 by Wright Library Teen Volunteers.
