Software upgrades

Good changes are coming to the library catalog and more

In summer 2026, Wright Library is rolling out technology system upgrades to provide a more accessible and secure online experience while giving staff better tools to serve the community.

Though mostly behind-the-scenes, some changes will be visible to library users such as when reserving meeting rooms, placing Interlibrary Loan requests, and viewing the library event calendar online. In the coming weeks, patrons will also see a “new look” when checking their account or searching Wright Library’s catalog, and the Holds Pickup Locker will be paused as a pickup location while we transition.

Important dates:

  • August 11: Wright Library closed for staff training.
  • September 14-16: Limited library services during system migrations, including a pause on placing hold requests, online account access, and digital borrowing.

Updates will be shared here and on the library's social media pages. You can also sign up to receive Library Announcement emails.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wright Library is changing our Integrated Library System (ILS) which will impact multiple patron interfaces both directly and indirectly. You can expect to see changes to web platforms related to library services including:

  • Wright Library's local catalog
  • Interlibrary loan catalog
  • Online event calendar
  • Meeting room reservation system
  • Website menus
  • Mobile app
  • Notification messages you may receive from any of these systems
These are important upgrades to systems that underlie essential library services, part of ongoing Library efforts to provide a more accessible and secure online experience, offer technology that meets modern expectations, and provide staff with more efficient, user-friendly tools to serve the community.
Changes are being rolled out gradually, July through September 2026. Important dates to be aware of include:
  • August 11 - Wright Library closes all day for staff training
  • mid August through September - use of the Holds Pickup Locker will be paused. For details, see "using the Holds Pickup Locker" below.
  • September 14-16 - Library services and patron account access will be limited during system migrations.

How will this impact library services I use, like:

You will now see a new interlibrary loan search interface specific to Wright Library patrons. Wright Library joined a new resource sharing network: WorldCat Discovery/WorldShare. We are no longer borrowing through from SearchOhio/OhioLink, but the range of materials is equally robust. As always, if you don’t easily find what you’re looking for, please contact staff for help.
Picking up holds from the locker will be suspended over the course of our transition.
  • mid August - Holds Pickup Locker will be unavailable to select as a pickup location on new hold requests
  • early September - Locker pickups will be paused; all holds that become available will need to be picked up from the hold shelf inside the library
  • September 14-16 - Library services and patron account access will be limited during system migrations.
  • end of September - Holds Pickup Locker will be reinstated as a pickup location.
Changes will be made to categories, filters, and overall look. Events that require registration will have a different registration form.
Reservation scheduling tool and form will have a new look, and confirmation emails will come from a different email address.
If you've previously selected something other than the default account PIN, be prepared for it to be reset to the default upon our Sept. 16 system migration. This could briefly affect your access to Holds Pickup Locker checkouts, Libby, Hoopla, New York Times, and other online library resources. Once the migration is complete, you will be able to reset/select a new PIN. The library will provide more detailed instructions prior to Sept. 16.
We think you’re going to be really happy! Our new search interface will make it much easier to find titles you want in the formats you want them. More details to follow
No changes here! Except while the library is closed for staff training on August 11, library staff will be here to help you, as always. (But change can be tough, so give them some extra positive vibes and encouragement next time you're in the library!)
