Writing for Tween and Teen Audiences

Real children may not sort themselves into perfect reader categories according to their age, but publishers and libraries group middle grade and young adult books separately. Knowing the general differences between middle grade (for ages eight through twelve) and young adult (for ages thirteen through eighteen) can help us tailor manuscript length, subject matter, world building, plot, character, and viewpoint to the appropriate audience. Learn the specifics of writing for these age groups, and bring your questions!
