Elementary-age writers are invited to share their works, gain inspiration, and learn tips and tricks for skilled writing at this weekly program with Miss Jacqui. Illustrators welcome, too! Every genre welcome.

Meet Wednesday, Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29 3:30-4:30 outside the library, weather permitting. Check the library Event & Weather Updates page for last minute changes due to weather.

Join other teens, Mrs. Bengson, and a member of Oakwood Safety for a morning bike ride from the library to Riverscape, through residential neighborhoods and on bike paths. Must be able to do a 12 mile trip. Permission slip required. Snack provided, BYO Drink. For those entering grades 7-12. If weather is unsuitable, you will receive an email no later than 9:00 that morning for further instructions. Register here for permission slip.

Build your own adventure at the library. Each week we will be exploring/creating something new with items you bring from home.

Get up close and personal with sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, a pony and sometimes Moose the Great Pyrenees farm dog when the Dream Maker Farm visits the library with their traveling petting zoo.

This outdoor program has been cancelled due to predicted rain. The presenter has considerable travel time and the presentation materials are water sensitive. 

Have you ever wondered what Old MacDonald does on his farm? Join this program to learn from a real farmer and Dr. Brook Beam from OSU Highland County Extension how food goes from farm to table.  Miss Sarah will also perform a short storytime about farming. 

Take a trip to Africa with us as we explore all the things that make the continent unique. From the Sahara desert in the north, the Savannah in the south, students will learn about the different habitats Africa has and the animals and people that live in them. Students will create a Giraffe Rod Puppet while learning about Africa.

Tim Pritchard, Sustainability Coordinator with Five Rivers MetroParks, will discuss what it means to have a climate emergency and what we understand needs to happen according to science to address the circumstance. The conversation will focus both on the big picture actions that need to be taken worldwide and what individuals can do at home and in the community to support real change. Analysts comb through collected intel to find connections and patterns, sniff out deception, and give context – all while avoiding the mental traps that can skew their results. In a highly interactive program where students are polled for their decisions and observations, discuss options, and form conclusions – they will test their analytical skills, reveal their cognitive biases, and dive into the world of intelligence analysis!
