Teen Bike Hike

Join other teens, Mrs. Bengson, and a member of Oakwood Safety for a morning bike ride from the library to Riverscape, through residential neighborhoods and on bike paths. Must be able to do a 12 mile trip. Permission slip required. Snack provided, BYO Drink. For those entering grades 7-12. If weather is unsuitable, you will receive an email no later than 9:00 that morning for further instructions. Register here for permission slip.

Exploring Africa with the Center for Puppetry Arts

Take a trip to Africa with us as we explore all the things that make the continent unique. From the Sahara desert in the north, the Savannah in the south, students will learn about the different habitats Africa has and the animals and people that live in them. Students will create a Giraffe Rod Puppet while learning about Africa.

The conversation will focus both on the big picture actions that need to be taken worldwide and what individuals can do at home and in the community to support real change. Analysts comb through collected intel to find connections and patterns, sniff out deception, and give context – all while avoiding the mental traps that can skew their results. In a highly interactive program where students are polled for their decisions and observations, discuss options, and form conclusions – they will test their analytical skills, reveal their cognitive biases, and dive into the world of intelligence analysis!
