God Is Merciful by David GreetDue to overwhelming interest at the January 21 Far Hills Speaker Series event, local attorney, David Greer, has agreed to repeat his presentation Jack Egan, Dayton Lawyer, a lecture based on his book God Is Merciful:  The Colorful Career of John E. Egan.  Egan was a criminal defense lawyer in Dayton, who represented a bewildering assortment of bank robbers, bootleggers, hit men, con men, gangsters and the like from 1900 until his death in 1936. His clients included Fred Gondorf, who became famous through the movie "The Sting,' John Dillinger, who had the honor of being the country's first public enemy number one, and Alvin Karpis, who succeeded to that title.

The Far Hills Speaker Series is a â€‹partnership between the Oakwood Historical Society and Wright Library.
