Come play with us at the Musical Instrument Petting Zoo! Maestros from Hauer Music will demonstrate a wide variety of instruments, plus encourage kids to get hands on! Information about music lessons and instrument rentals will be available. Drop in at any time—we’ll be jamming the whole morning!

Join us at Oakwood's That Day in May Parade! Wright Library will be marching in the parade, starting on Shafor Blvd. at Dorothy Lane Market. Visit us at the Library booth to celebrate “Libraries Rock!” by registering for Summer Reading Club and using a Sharpie to decorate your own river rock for the Kindness Rocks Project. Rock and roll stickers for everybody, too.

Play games of all sorts while visiting booths, enjoying live music, and catching up with friends at this long-running annual Oakwood tradition held at Shafor Park. At the library booth, families can help create a musical mosaic and learn about fall happenings at the library.

Special guest performers are Oakwood residents, musicians, and artists Michael and Sandy Bashaw. They will play gentle music throughout the Read-a-Thon and finish the program out (approximately 30 minutes beginning at 11:30am) with a participatory drum improvisation.

At this community gathering co-led by the Wright Library and Oakwood Public Safety, we will all gather around a campfire at Katharine Wright Park to sing songs and share stories. Start and end times are approximate. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Come Kumbayah with us!

Bring your wild self to the library to meet 5-7 live animals, most likely including a red-tailed hawk, a barn owl and an African pygmy hedgehog. Dress up like an animal and enjoy activities before and after the 1 hour educational and interactive program.

Rock n Roll meets oil pastels on these artistic afternoons! Elementary-age children are invited to make art in a provided medium while the library plays the best music of a genre. Get inspired by the music! Make a mess on us! Try out new songs and art! Please note: the Library will be playing radio edits of songs.
